Islands Hopping : Pulau Dayang Bunting (Isle Of The Pregnant Maiden)


My second day in Langkawi, we went for Island hopping. Island Hopping is a very common activity in Langkawi that almost every resort/motel offers it. The only difference is the price that they quote you.It cost RM35(Adult) per pax and RM 15 per pax for children, including transportation.

Taking the 3.5 hours Island Hopping tour, one will get to visit (with accordance) Pulau Dayang Bunting, Pulau Helang and Pulau Beras Basah. Pulau Dayang Bunting (Isle Of The Pregnant Maiden) was about 15 minutes from where we left. The name comes from the island’s physical appearance, which looked like a pregnant lady lying on her back, as seen in the photo I took above.


This tourist island is the second largest island after Pulau Langkawi. The lake is a popular place with barren women would come to drink the waters until some people attribute subsequent pregnancy to its mystical powers. It is also a good place to take a few scenic photographs or enjoy a relaxing swim. Another legend has it that a white crocodile or its spirit lives in this lake.

Besides the legend that attaches to this place of interest, Pulau Dayang Bunting is a jungle-clad island with limestone cliffs lying just south of Langkawi and a popular island hopping destination. Marble is quarried here and sent to the mainland for processing but the main attraction here is definitely the distinctive Tasik Dayang Bunting and Gua Langsir which is filled with bats.

    u should Ika... RM 35 .. visit 3 islands for about 3 hours... very nice ;))

    only rm 25 with tcy travel and tours 4hour... visit 3island + eagle feeding(very recomended)... call mizan (0124322466), at airport and jetty do they sell verry expensive rm50/pax... don't buy there...

Burnt sugar apam ? (Apam Gula Hangus )
