Squid Curry with french beans

Ingredients : (For 2-4 persons)
  • 6-8 squids ( average size) -(cleaned)
  • 2 tablespoons curry powder (for meat)
  • 1 tablespoons Kurma powder
  •  1 tablespoons chili (blended) or chili Boh
  • 1 Shallot
  • 1/2 Onion
  • 1 Garlic
  • 2 slice ginger
  • 1 inch cinnamon
  • 2 fresh chili
  • 3 cup coconut milk
  • 1 Tbsp assam paste (tamarind paste) - soak in a small bowl of warm water, discard the seeds and use the assam water
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 1/2 cup of water 
Methods :
  1. Heat up a pot with the cooking oil and saute the Onion and salt.
  2. As soon as you smell the shallots aroma, add in the cinnamon, garlic, ginger, chili paste & curry leaves. 
  3. Add in , squids, curry powder and kurma powder. (mix curry powder and kurma powder with 1 1/2 cup of water first).
  4. Stir then closed the pot for 1 minute with slow heat.
  5. Add in Coconut Milk, Fresh chili (slices) and stir till boil.
  6. Add in sugar and  tamarind paste.
  7. Lastly, add in french beans slices and cook for 2 minutes. Ready to serve.


* Optional
 You may use Tomato instead of French Bean or cook it without tomato or French beans.

*If you think the squid head and tentacles are unsightly, shove it into the squid tube so it doesn't hang loose.
*Prevent over cooking the squid  and always remember squid will become rubbery once over-cooked.





Resepi : Kari Sotong dengan Kacang Buncis


Bahan-bahan ( 2-4 orang )

  • 6-8 ekor sotong (sederhana besar)
  • *1 ulas bawang merah
  • *1 ulas bawang putih
  • *setengah biji bawang besar
  • *2 hiris halia
  • satu tangkai daun kari
  • 2 biji lada besar
  • 2 sudu makan serbuk kari
  • satu sudu makan serbuk kurma
  • sedikit air asam jawa
  • secubit garam
  • 1 sudu makan cili boh
  • 1 batang kulit kayu manis
  • (bahan yang bertanda * di mayang)

Cara-cara

  1. Panaskan minyak, tumis bawang besar bersama secubit garam.
  2. Apabila dah naik bau, masukkan kulit kayu manis, bawang putih, bawang merah, halia, cili boh dan daun kari. tumis hingga naik bau
  3. Kemudian, masukkan sotong dan serbuk kari serta serbuk kurma. tambah sedikit air jika perlu.
  4. Kacau dan terus tutup periuk untuk satu minit. (kecilkan api)
  5. Terus masukkan santan, lada besar dan kiub pati ayam. kacau hingga mendidih
  6. Masukkan gula dan air asam jawa secukup rasa.
  7. Bolehlah diangkat dan terus dihidangkan. ( pd sesiapa yg sukakan tomato blh jg dimasukkan sekali)
